City Goalkeeper Suffers Injury in Draw With Liverpool
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed pessimism about the condition of goalkeeper Ederson after he came off injured in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
Ederson suffered an injury early in the second half when Nathan Ake under-hit a backpass, forcing the Brazilian to rush out and catch the ball. However, in doing so, he collided with Liverpool's Darwin Nunez, resulting in Ederson's departure from the field.
Guardiola's comments after the match suggest that the injury could be serious: "Ederson has some problems. He will be checked tomorrow, but he could not continue. We will see the extent of the injury tomorrow."
The loss of Ederson would be a significant blow to Manchester City, as he has been a key player for the team in recent seasons. City have other goalkeepers on their roster, including Stefan Ortega and Zack Steffen, but Ederson's experience and quality would be difficult to replace.
